With much regret I must announce the Team Johnny Killmore #187 sidecar racing team will not be able to attend the 2015 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Despite generous donations from friends and fans the budget is still not in place. With a week left before tech inspection and the official beginning of the event, we cannot afford to get the equipment in place and run the race bike for a week of competition.
I want to thank all the friends and fans who donated via our fundraiser at www.gofundme.com/187pikespeak along with Peter Spencer and the Cretins Motorcycle Club’s Los Angeles chapter for outside support. I will close the GoFundMe page and issue full refunds to those who donated, then issue refunds for outside donations shortly afterward.
Also I must thank Dennis, Diannia and Dannan Wagner in Cascade, Colorado for offering their support, their homes, their time, and their endless levels of enthusiasm and passion not only for the Pikes Peak Hill Climb, but for the sidecar class specifically. Three wheeled sport owes them a tip of the hat and then some.
Lastly I must give a gracious thanks and personal apology to Fran Hall and all the people at Superlite Cars and Race Car Replicas for Fraser, Michigan. Fran and his team got our Shelbourne sidecar from a bare frame to a running race bike on time and at great effort. They deserve to have their name racing up the mountain and we will be there in 2016 to carry their banner. Fran has his own, in-house prototype Formula 2 chassis under development and is obviously passionate about the sport. After all, anyone who has a business building race cars, sees how little money there is in sidecar racing, then decides to design his own race bike for market is showing a tremendous amount of passion in that alone. Their craftsmanship is overwhelming and I can’t wait to get the bike out on the short circuit races in the SRA-West Formula Sidecar Series later this year.
